London Irish have signed a new fly half and scrum half.

Riki Flutey joins from the New Zealand Super 12 side Wellington Hurricanes. The 25-year-old fly has been selected for the New Zealand Maori team to play the British and Irish Lions in June. Flutey has represented the All Blacks at all age groups and first played for the Maoris in 2002. He joins the Exiles from the Wellington club.

Meanwhile, Ben Willis returns to the Guinness Premiership after a season in France playing for Beziers, prior to that he played for NEC Harlequins. The 28-year-old scrum half has played for Ireland A and Leinster.

The two new signings augment the Exiles’ existing half-backs: fly halves Barry Everitt and Ross Laidlaw, and scrum halves Darren Edwards and Paul Hodgson.

Flutey and Willis have signed two-year contracts. Flutey will arrive when he is finished with the Maoris. Willis will arrive for the start of pre-season training in June.
